Feasibility of Disease free zone(s) in India! A truth or another misleading concept?

Is it better and possible to raise the specific pathogen resistant birds? Is this may be an option for specific disease free zone? Is plan of Government to create disease free zones for specific pathogens all over India, not another money mending mechanism created by scientists (so called)? In recent past, several lots of SPF (specific pathogen free) birds (supplied by a renowned company) died in Indian Veterinary Research Institute spoiling planned experiments with the pathogen for which birds were raised in SPF zone. The options are limited for disease control in light of corruption in the system. However, the idea to raise genetically disease resistant livestock may be promising. In an experiment, such birds were tested. How those birds behave when exposed to Salmonella, a deadly pathogen of birds?

Dr Singh's view touches both the points which are fundamental. But, both are 'interdependent' as well. Curiously, we in India have one of the best breeds of large animals which are 'specific pathogen resistant' (SPR). So, easy thing is to 'expel' other breeds in 'specified zones', a plan of which could be successful only when it 'turns out to the advantage of livestock owners of the zone'. For that, for several years from now, I too have presented a very viable proposal with which livestock owners of definite areas have been mobilized over last 14 years. The concept is Livestock Technology Park (LTP)- Special Animal Husbandry & Agriculture Zone (SAHAZ), wherein with a 'LTP' owned and operated in Livestock-owners-Public Partnership (LOPP), a Zone concentrating of selected villages is developed for 'intensive commercial animal husbandry practices'. Here, project is led by community of entrepreneurs through Cooperatives and Farmers Producer Companies for their own benefits. Several components are added in the portfolio of investment specially created: such as, breeding best breeding stock for breed which in the zone have its track of origin such as Murrah and Hariana in Hisar district; second, of course is dependence on standardised quality of milk wherein stanadrds are set by Residents' Welfare Associations of nearby cities such as RWA of Hisar may be targeted for supply of milk of Pure Desi Cattle; third is formulation of ration services and its supply to members of Producer Companies; fourth, Integration of the Gaushala as places of production of Zero Budget Farming Inputs such as biological nutrient enrichment solutions through innovative fermentation and cultures containing live-micro-organisms required supply nutrients as well here the micro-organisms will be used to control other pests; fifth, linking of efforts of Specific Diseases which are zoonotic and priority of Human Health Services Department such as TB, Brucellosis as well as planning joint campaign on diseases which are soil and water borne by adopting common epiemiological strategy such as creating Disease Forecasting by expanding Disease Free Zone as one of the strategies of Modified Swachhta Abhiyaan where the modification is to link diseases such as TB, Cancer and may be AIDS as part of social campaign. Dr Singh, we have zeroed in a very limited area near Hisar where physical boundaries are 'visible and distinct'. Government of Haryana and India have been 'sensitized' first and then, I delivered the Seminar on 'Feasibility' of it in Department of Vet Microbiology in May 2017 with only 'prgamatism and ground-truths such as it is our duty to impress upon invoke relevant administrative authority such as are 'thrusted and forced on to Government officials' on several other kind of 'Missions'. It is the time when 'small and feasbile steps are taken
